Gulf Coast Transit District Texas City Park & Ride and Administration Facility

Connect Transit and Texas City Emergency Management had outgrown their existing facilities, shared transit compatible uses, and could best leverage their resources by cohabiting under one roof. TGC completed advanced planning and preliminary engineering of a new administration and operations facility, which included a shared-use space for Connect Transit and Texas City Emergency Operations Center.

The project scope consisted of a 13,100 SF administration building, 450-space park and ride lot, and a bus storage facility. The project involved $6.5M nine-month, fast-track construction schedule that was completed on time and on budget. Change orders were limited to 2.5% of the project cost by negotiation and coordination with the general contractor to achieve alternative delivery systems. PGAL supported this project with design services.

The project required additional funding for the construction phase, and in support of this objective, TGC successfully pursued FY17 Section 5339 discretionary funds. The application quantified benefits and responded to other funding priorities. As a result, Gulf Coast Center was awarded $3M for this effort, and it utilized this amount to complete the building construction in 2019.

The facility is a fantastic new home for the District, and TGC has been a tremendous asset to our team.
