Downtown Mobility & Parking Study

Project Summary: In 1993, the voters of Oklahoma City approved a five-year sales tax to support implementation of the Metropolitan Area Projects (MAPS) Program.
Project Highlights
The MAPS initiative involves development of approximately $297 million of projects located in downtown and at the Fairgrounds. The MAPS Program includes the following major components:

Implementation
After a thorough review of information and data generated by traffic studies, TGC completed a Mobility and Parking Study to address parking deficiencies created by the various MAPS projects. TGC developed strategies and recommendations in the following four areas:
- Parking Management and Organization
- Shuttle Program
- Pedestrian Improvements
- Parking Policies and Traffic Circulation Controls
These recommended actions and strategies were directed to the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority (COTPA), the City of Oklahoma City, and the private sector jointly to implement a Downtown Mobility and Parking Program.
