Project Background
The City of Galveston and the Downtown Revitalization Committee desired a comprehensive Streetscape Master Plan for improvements to be financed through a tax reinvestment zone that encompasses much of the downtown area.
Feasibility
TGC was asked to coordinate the development of a Downtown Streetscape Master Plan with a specific implementation plan for reopening two blocks of Postoffice Street. TGC coordinated the master plan and design effort with existing plans for other downtown streets using input from a joint public/private committee. The plan includes landscaping, development of a framework for downtown, pavement improvements, sidewalk treatments, lighting recommendations, a graphics/ signage program, and other recommendations for downtown enrichment.
