Project Profile
Economic Development Program
Corpus Christi, Texas
Client: Urban Mass Transportation Administration
Project Summary: The Urban Mass Transportation Administration had a continuing interest in linking transportation improvements to the economic development of urban and rural areas. To help further understanding of this relationship TGC examined several issues in Corpus Christi in conjunction with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA).
Project Highlights
Feasibility/Environmental Studies
TGC studied the feasibility of joint acquisition and sharing of transportation and economic development data by all interested Corpus Christi public and private entities. Areas of common data needs were identified for future development of a common data base including updating and forecasting.
Park and Ride Facilities
An analysis of existing park and ride facilities and operations was completed. Recommendations were made to upgrade existing services. Sites were reviewed for long-term system expansion in conjunction with future freeway extensions.
Finance Strategies
TGC explored the potential to develop a revenue stream to reduce the operating cost of terminals for a proposed high-speed water transit system through joint development of the terminals with private investors.
