Project Highlights Section
The Sterling Ridge Park & Ride is the third park & ride facility developed by The Goodman Corporation (TGC) for The Woodlands, Texas. Due to a continual increase in traffic congestion along the major freeways leading from The Woodlands to Houston employment centers, the two existing park & ride facilities were already overcrowded and operating above capacity. The high demand for transit alternatives, coupled with a local commitment to improve air quality, led The District to contract with TGC to analyze the potential for an additional park & ride facility. TGC led the planning and preliminary engineering efforts for a $6 million park & ride facility along Woodlands Parkway by completing demand and site selection analyses, environmental analysis, operations analysis, peer review, and preliminary site layout and design. TGC is currently managing construction phase services.
FUNDING STRATEGY
TGC coordinated with the Federal Transit Administration and the Houston-Galveston Area Council to secure $6 million for The District for construction. TGC assisted The District in its pursuit of an additional $2.6 million for operations.
