Sun Metro Transit Improvement Program

Project Summary: In 1995, TGC was selected by Sun Metro, the transit agency for the City of El Paso, Texas, to direct the planning and implementation of its Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

Project Highlights

The Sun Metro TIP included the following:

  • International Transit Terminal
  • Demand-Responsive LIFT Operations Center
  • Lower Valley Terminal
  • Five Points Terminal
  • Westside Terminal
  • Eastside Terminal

TGC also provided Sun Metro with advanced planning, grant funding, and project management-related services for TIP projects which included the following:

  • Union Plaza Transit Terminal/Parking Facility
  • Union Plaza Streetscape Program
  • Oregon Street Transit/Pedestrian Mall
  • San Antonio Avenue Transit Plaza

A review and analysis of Sun Metro to support its local share financial requirements for capital development, as well as future operating costs for existing and planned services, were also performed by TGC.
